Diverting from the classic circuit trail at Manang, this route tackles the high avalanche scree slopes to reach the cold, turquoise high-altitude waters of Tilicho Lake.

Itinerary
Long cross-country drive past Besisahar into the pine forests of Chame town.
Walk through rock-carved pathways alongside roaring alpine river courses to Pisang.
Take the upper scenic route through old villages for panoramic views of the main massif.
Vital day spent walking to high hills to check blood oxygen levels before heading to the lake.
Divert off the main circuit route heading down across old monastery pathways to Khangsar.
Navigate the high, narrow landslide scree trails under massive, eroded mud columns to the camp.
A steep pre-dawn climb to reach the spectacular frozen expanse of Tilicho Lake at 4,919m.
Walk back across the high landslide trails to the safer settlement of Siri Kharka.
Contour high across the mountain ridges to rejoin the main Thorong La circuit route at Yak Kharka.
Walk up to the base camp cluster at the foot of the massive mountain pass.
Cross the high pass (5,416m) down to the sacred temples, taking an evening jeep to Jomsom.
Morning mountain flight out of Jomsom linking with outbound international flights.
