Itinerary
Permit verification and specialized remote emergency evacuation briefing.
Domestic flight down to the southwest border plain transport hub.
Mountain flight to Juphal, walking alongside the roaring Bheri River to Dunai town.
Enter Shey Phoksundo National Park, tracking narrow cliff trails to Chhepka.
Walk up through dense pine forests to a settlement practicing traditional Tibetan medicine.
Climb a high ridge to view a massive waterfall before dropping down to the deep blue Phoksundo Lake.
Rest day spent exploring the ancient Bon Buddhist monastery at Ringmo village.
Walk along a dramatic cliff trail made famous in the movie Caravan, entering the upper valley canyon.
Ascend past rock debris to the foot of the first high pass crossing site.
Cross the high pass, taking in views of the Tibetan plateau down to the legendary 11th-century Shey Gompa.
Circuit hike around the spiritual Crystal Mountain, visiting hermitages.
Cross the second high arid pass down into Saldang, the largest ancient border village.
Walk across high desert plateaus past ancient cave systems to Komash.
Ascend and cross the final pass, dropping down into the isolated pastures at Shimen.
Follow the river path past old stone watchtowers to the expansive valley plain of Tinje.
Walk past wide trade trails up to the high summer yak herder camps.
Hike over rugged switchbacks to reach the medieval walled mud village of Chharka.
Climb high into the final pass valley lines, setting up cold high camps.
Cross the final low ridges, descending down past rocky river chasms to Sangda.
Complete the long western exit trail loop, walking out into Jomsom on the Annapurna track.
Catch morning domestic flights back to Kathmandu for your international departure.
